Creating a new space often begins with a vision. It could be a theme, colors, style, or all three.
In this living room, I cleared the room and began measuring every wall, window, and crevice. I then drew up a floor plan and put my vision to work. From pre-measured furniture pieces I selected, I made cut-out pieces and placed them in various spots in the room until I came up with my "bingo!" layout.

Adding a rich fall color scheme, I grouped large furniture pieces to create a sitting area in front of the television and fireplace area (on opposite wall):
The walls are a neutral tone (not white) and help brighten the area in contrast with the rich color scheme.
Accessories included wall hangings, throw blankets and pillows, ottoman table tray, and fireplace candles and floral. It didn't take much to make this room come alive and become a cozy haven.
The next phase of this makeover will be the fireplace -- adding a mantel and darker wall color, making this room's focal point a masterpiece. The final makeover phase will be replacing the carpet with antique wood flooring.
